marmalade and honey. Crisp acidity leads to a slightly bitter
finish.’ Past Best. 75 Points

Honey and caramel flavours are evident… strong

Martinborough Vineyard 1990 Riesling
‘Significantly fresher than the 1989 with a brighter colour
and showing apricot, toast and honey flavours. Delicious acidity
gives the wine vigour and perfectly balances any sweetness from
residual sugar or alcohol. A lovely mature wine although my bottle
showing very slight cork taint (I ignored the taint in my rating)’ 88

Martinborough Vineyard 1989 Riesling
. … ‘very developed nose with honey, toast and bread
dough characters. Dry but not bitter and still showing crisp
acidity. Still very much alive but certainly at, or perhaps slightly
past, full maturity.’ 82.5 Points
